What Is a wellness session?

A Wellness Session is designed to address imbalances of the body with the goal of reaching a more optimal level of health. A Wellness Session might include holistic pain management and naturopathic techniques using herbs and physical medicine to treat conditions such as :

  • Joint pain and arthritis

  • Headaches and migraines

An individual care plan is created based in the chief complaint and a comprehensive evaluation. Since there is more than one piece to every puzzle, a multi-layered approach is taken when treating a condition.  We might address emotional, spiritual, nutritional and physical underlying causes to each issue.


Is a wellness session it worth the cost?

A Wellness Session may cost more than other personal care expenses, like manicures or wellness checkups, but for many people it is a vital part of a well-rounded treatment plan. The fee is based on the treatment modalities used in each session based on assessments before and during the session.  The fee may range from 100 - 140 depending on is treated during the session.  A Wellness Session can provide profound health benefits, especially for those with chronic pain and other chronic health issues. A Wellness Session is an investment in your health that can save you from unnecessary physical, emotional, and financial stress of future injuries, medications and more extreme treatments, like surgery. Will my problems be fixed in one wellness session?

While it’s likely you will feel great and experience notable pain and stress reduction after just one session, long-term issues require long-term care. Regular sessions create better, more effective results, and Lisa’s care plans for each patient seek to build on the progress made in each session.


What health benefits can I expect from a wellness session?

Each patient's results are dependent on their specific conditions, self-care, daily lifestyle and health habits. Therapeutic Wellness patients have experienced profound health benefits, including:

What should I expect at my first appointment?

When you make your appointment, you will be asked to fill out a health intake form. Be sure to print this form, fill it out and bring it to your appointment. You are also welcome to discuss your specific needs with Lisa before you schedule your first appointment by contacting her here. She may ask to contact your other healthcare providers to form a coordinated plan and healing team for you.

Before you arrive at Therapeutic Wellness, be sure to hydrate and don’t eat a large meal. This will help make sure you feel your best during and after your session.

When you arrive, Lisa will meet you in the waiting area to bring you back to her exam room. She'll start by going over the health intake form with you to gain a better understanding of how she can help you. Then, she will perform various evaluation procedures including a complete postural assessment to check for visible imbalances in your musculoskeletal system that could be contributing to your condition(s). After the assessment, you will be given a choice on several treatment plans.

As a part of her therapy practices, Lisa may sometimes use a variety of products and positions to exact deeper changes in the body, such as percussive tools for the release of tension in deeper muscle knots, menthol-based creams to improve circulation, topical herbal products to address specific needs or stretches to realign joints to their proper positions. She will always ask you before using these techniques if you are comfortable with them, and if you aren’t, that’s ok!


Immediately after your session, hydrate and avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours. Lisa also recommends going for a light walk to let the body integrate the benefits received in your session. You might experience some muscle soreness, like the good soreness experienced after a workout, for a day or two after the appointment as your body adjusts. You might also notice an immediate drop in and even total elimination of chronic aches and pains that might slowly return, and that is to be expected as well. Pain associated with chronic or long-term conditions make take several regular sessions to significantly reduce and eliminate entirely.


How often should I get a Wellness session?

It depends on your conditions and needs. Many patients visit Therapeutic Wellness every other week, while some visit every other week and others only once a month. 


How can I extend the benefits of my wellness session?

Stretching, foam rolling and using the MELT Method daily can prolong the positive effects of your session. Strengthening weakened muscles and stretching tightened ones is also a great way to alleviate chronic pain and tension and prevent it from worsening in the future. Consider incorporating yoga into your routines to expand upon the range of motion, neurological integration, and muscle function improvements gained from your session. As with all health conditions and treatments, regular exercise, proper nutrition and adequate restful sleep amplifies the benefits of your session and promotes overall health of the mind and body.
